Apple Crisp

This is a recipe my mom has been serving for as long as I can remember.  It's fairly easy to prepare, so long as you've got the time to peel and slice all the apples it's a delicious dessert warm or cold and a definite crowd pleaser :)

1 - 3 lb bag of granny smith apples
1 - cup of sugar
5 - shakes of cinnamon
1 - yellow cake mix
1 - stick of butter

peel and slice the apples to desired size and put in bowl with sugar and cinnamon, mix well and let set.

In another bowl melt the stick of butter and add yellow cake mix, mix well - it should create a crumbly wet mixture

Pour apples into 9x13 in. pan and crumble cake mix batter over top covering evenly

Let bake in the oven for 30 min. at 350 or until topping is golden brown.

**You can use any kind of apple you want, granny smith is my personal favorite for the tart flavor mixed with the sweet.  Cook longer for softer apples, I like my still crisp when they come out of the oven, for biggest smiles serve warm with vanilla ice cream
